Find out more about the Luminous Planet

The Luminous Planet applications can supplement everyday educational activities for preschool children, as well as corrective, compensatory, remedial classes. It can also make the time spent by children in school common rooms, educational facilities, institutions organising children's leisure time and additional activities more attractive. This collection of applications is intended in particular for teaching the basics of programming to the youngest children.

The applications are designed for interactive floors. Check available devices powered by Motioncube.

The applications respond to the movement of a user.

The Luminous Planet is the first part of the original programming methodology for early childhood education, developed by the LavaVision team. In addition, the activities proposed in the applications from the Luminous Planet can support the development of motor skills, visual perception, logical and algorithmic thinking. Playing with Lumies can be purely entertaining, but it can also be used as a background for discussions with children on topics related to the issues raised in the applications and relate them to real-life situations that children may encounter.

The applications included in the Luminous Planet are designed to introduce preschool children to selected programming concepts in an interesting and attractive form of games and activities. The activities illustrate: action plans, collecting or organising information, repetitive actions, unique characteristics, cause and effect, creativity, cooperation, computer viruses, checking and repairing, using templates and patterns, dividing the whole into smaller parts, reacting to events, recognising characters and symbols, and searching for needed items.

In addition, all games are based on exercises that stimulate cognitive functions, i.e. sight, hearing, movement, memory and can be a very attractive set of remedial exercises for preschool and early school age children.

The authors of the Luminous Planet tried to respond to the developmental needs of preschool children, focusing primarily on supporting motor and sensory skills during organised, safe games and activities.

The Luminous Planet consists of sixteen richly illustrated interactive and logical games. Each game begins with a short story about the Lumies, which explains the purpose of the game to children, and ends with a reward in the form of congratulations and applause. The applications have been designed to provide entertainment and exercise, which is a great way to diversify everyday activities, while offering a friendly way to learn basic concepts related to computer science and programming. The applications have pleasant sound effects to make the time spent playing on the interactive floor even more enjoyable for children.

All applications inncluded in the collection are embedded in an interesting narrative. Lumies are small robots that communicate with each other using colourful light codes. The flow of energy on their planet has been disrupted by the Draconids – a swarm of cosmic meteors. The applications provide various examples of how to help the Lumies restore communication, which is so important for the proper functioning of their planet. The applications from the Luminous Planet feature graphics that were nominated in 2020 in the Polish Graphics Design Awards competition in the Motion graphics - Interactive animation category.
